Amazon Now Publish Your Address!
By ZonSupport | Posted on July 14, 2020| BlogOn September 1, 2020, Amazon will publish your business name and address on your Seller Profile page. I must admit I did not see this notification come through from Amazon but then I am not that attentive to their emails at times.
They insist a notice has been sent to all Sellers in the US.
Here’s the link to their announcement:
To give you some context, this has been in place in the EU, Japan and even in Mexico for a long time. So, it’s almost an inevitable process as Amazon is forced to be more transparent with just who is selling on their platform. The implications of this are wide-ranging and you need to carefully consider your options to manage your privacy as much as possible.
There are always pros and cons to everything in business – well in life really. We see the ability to contact sellers who have hijacked your product as being a distinct advantage. There will be an address so you can easily serve documents and a phone number to call as well.
No more trying to send messages through the Amazon system only to find they block some of them without notification. In addition, it will become very obvious which brands are Amazon’s and which are 3rd party sellers.
The downside of course depends on how you’re structured. If you’re a sole trader using your home address, then come September 1, anyone can look at your house on Google street view. That is more than a little uncomfortable…
So just where is this information going to appear?
Login to your Seller Central account and navigate to Settings/Your Info and policies.
This has always been a great place for you to write a little about your business and encourage customers to connect with you.
We wrote about using this area to promote your brand values in July last year – almost a year to the day.
Here’s a link to this earlier blog that has suggestions as to what you may like to include on your Seller Profile Page:
Just know that Amazon is now going to add your address details in here as well!
As always, ask us anything. If we don’t know the answer we’ll know someone who does!
